Coach Grant as a Player:
Coach Grant has been fortunate to play basketball in over thirty countries in Europe, Asia, and South America, as well as playing throughout the U.S. professionally in the ABA, and NBA pre-season camps and summer leagues. This experience has provided him with exposure to a variety of philosophies related to the teaching and learning the game of basketball. Throughout his career, Coach Grant has earned the reputation of being fundamentally sound both defensively and offensively. His career statistics demonstrate record-breaking blocked shots and rebounding. Among basketball circles, players remember his forceful “in-your-face” dunks, breaking three backboards in the process!
Coach Grant as a Coach/Trainer:
Coach Grant has taken his fundamentals from his playing days and expanded them into his coaching and training. Working with over 10,000 players during the last 12 years he has been able to develop a system which works at all levels, youth, high school and college. His teaching methods have become synonymous with some of the best players in the tri-county area as well as abroad in Canada and Europe.
Coach Grant understands that basketball in many ways can teach life-skills, and how a player trains and handles himself on the court will carry over into situations where discipline, confidence and competitiveness are required. This is one of the main reasons he has helped over 50 students (in the past seven years) receiving college scholarships at every level of play. Those scholarships have amassed an incredible figure of just over $5,000,000 in money earned towards education for those that have trained with him.
You will find Coach Grant working diligently with his students weekly on the court. He is not a bystander. He is hands-on and makes sure each player understands before they leave his training facility they know what needs to be worked on before next week’s session. He spends time to make sure all, including the parents, understand the importance of continuing to work on your skills at home and in the gym. Many parents have commented that Greg’s effect on their child has been tremendous when trying to overcome difficulties they could not master in the past.
